Meet the Fastest Ladies in Tasmania, Australia

by Ruth Bowler

Recently returned from competing overseas, Ruthie “Racer” Bowler is continuing her 2015 Aussie Racing Cars campaign with a return to Tasmania and Symmons Plains. Whilst bringing the popular Ford Coupe back to Launceston is always exciting, this year Ruthie has the added bonus of teaming up with Tassies Fastest Ladies.

Tassies Fastest Ladies are Karting Racers in their own rights and looking forward to working with Ruthie and gaining experience at a national event showcasing some of Australia’s best motorsport. Ruthie has been team principal and competing nationally for eight years and admires the girls for their commitment to racing as well as their dedication to community programs increasing Breast Cancer awareness. Through their fund raising efforts they have been able to raise money for their charities and gather support for women in Tasmanian Motorsport.

Ruthie knows how hard it can be to compete and advises “it’s terrific to be able to offer my experience to the girls and help towards their development. This weekend provides another opportunity to demonstrate that girls can mix it with the boys and local sponsors, including Explainer Videos, Ultimate Subaru Spares, Tas Autosport and Lid Design, have come on board to sponsor the team for the weekend”.

“I always enjoy returning to Tassie and am proud to be assisting women in racing and Tasmanian Motorsport in general. As the last remaining driver of an original bodied Ford Coupe Aussie Racing Car I can categorically state that there is definitely a place for curves in competition! Please do come and meet the girls and show your support. We will be having a meet and greet session at the Launceston Kart Track (Archerville) this Sunday before settling down to prepare for racing every day of the Tyrepower Tasmania event 27-29th March.

The Aussie Racing Cars category is a V8 Supercars national support category. The cars are purpose built and the Aussie Racings Cars manufacturer is now the largest producer of circuit racing cars in Australia. Don’t be fooled by their size, these cars achieve a top speed of 230 KMH, 2G cornering and with heavily stacked grids you can expect breath taking and spectacular racing on the short Symmons Plains circuit.
